Living Better with Acidity & Reflux

A practical session on the everyday gut symptoms most people put up with — acidity, reflux, bloating and unpredictable bowels — and what actually helps.

Acidity, reflux and bloating are so common in India that most people have stopped treating them as symptoms. They are managed with an antacid from the drawer, a lighter dinner, and a general sense that this is simply how things are.

This session is for the people in that position. It is not about eliminating foods. It is about understanding what is producing the symptom, so that the changes you make are the ones likely to work.

Who this is for

  • You take an antacid most weeks and have stopped questioning it
  • You are bloated by evening almost every day
  • Your bowels swing between loose and hard with no obvious pattern
  • You have been told it is stress and left it there

What you’ll learn

  • What reflux is, and why it is not simply too much acid
  • Why bloating and gas are often a sensitivity problem rather than a volume problem
  • How to run a food and symptom diary that actually tells you something
  • What a low-FODMAP approach is for, and why it is meant to be temporary
  • The symptoms that should be assessed rather than managed at home
  • What long-term acid suppression does and does not do

Agenda

  1. Welcome and what we will cover (15 min)
  2. Reflux, acidity and LPR: the mechanism (30 min)
  3. Bloating, gas and the sensitive gut (30 min)
  4. Break (10 min)
  5. Food, timing and the diary that works (30 min)
  6. Warning signs, and when to stop self-managing (15 min)
  7. Live questions (30 min)

What makes this session different

Two ideas do most of the work. The first is that reflux is usually a problem of the barrier between stomach and oesophagus rather than of acid quantity — which is why timing, posture and meal size often outperform stronger acid suppression. The second is that bloating is frequently a sensitivity problem rather than a volume problem, which changes the approach entirely.

We also spend real time on the food and symptom diary, because it is the single most useful and most badly executed tool in this area.
