Understanding Blood Reports

A session for anyone who has a folder of blood tests they cannot read. We go through the panels that matter, line by line, so your own reports stop being a mystery.

Most people in India now have a folder of blood reports and no way to read them. The values are printed next to a range, one or two are flagged in bold, and the rest is noise.

This session turns that folder into something you can read. We take the panels that come up most often, work through what each line is measuring, and — more usefully — how the lines relate to each other. Almost every useful conclusion in laboratory medicine comes from a pattern, not a single number.

Who this is for

  • You have had a health check and do not understand most of it
  • One value came back flagged and you have been worrying about it
  • You have been managing a condition for years without ever reading your own numbers
  • You want to ask better questions at your next appointment

What you’ll learn

  • Why reference ranges differ between laboratories, and what that means for you
  • How to read a liver function test, and why the pattern beats the worst number
  • What HbA1c actually measures, and the common things that distort it
  • How to read a lipid profile without fixating on total cholesterol
  • Thyroid tests: why TSH alone is often enough, and when it is not
  • Iron studies, ferritin, and why the two are not the same question

Agenda

  1. Welcome, and how to read any lab report (20 min)
  2. Liver function tests (25 min)
  3. Glucose and HbA1c (25 min)
  4. Break (10 min)
  5. Lipids and thyroid (30 min)
  6. Iron, B12 and vitamin D (20 min)
  7. Live questions (30 min)

What makes this session different

We spend the first twenty minutes on something almost never taught: how to read any laboratory report. Where the reference range comes from, why it differs between laboratories, why "outside the range" and "abnormal" are not the same statement, and how much of a change is real rather than the test's own variation.

Everything after that is easier.

Every Learning Session includes

Doctor-led teaching. Practical lifestyle strategies. Live Q&A. Evidence-based handouts. Action points you can use immediately.

Before you register

This session is educational. It will help you understand what your reports measure; it cannot tell you what your particular results mean for you. That requires your history, your examination and your full picture, which is what a consultation is for.
